Loungers – Matlock

Loungers is an award-winning, all day neighbourhood café-bar and dining business with sites across the UK. Co-founded by three friends, the Lounge brand aims to have an independent culture and focus on the local community.

With more home-workers heading to cafés in local high streets following the Covid pandemic, Invest in Derbyshire supported Loungers with its strategy to focus on opening new sites in suburban areas and market towns.

Our service provided tailored demographic data and local intelligence to underpin the business case for Matlock and, in March 2022, Loungers added to its existing Derbyshire portfolio by opening Ostello Lounge in Crown Square – bringing a building on the high street back into use and employing 25 local people.

“Lounge teams are hugely encouraged to connect with their communities by working with local groups, charities, organisations and businesses that are at the heart of the fabric of local life.”
